What is evse charger electric car system?

2021.12.26

Many of us today are becoming interested in buying an electric car. But what is an electric vehicle evse charger? Today, the term electric car refers to different types of cars including full electric, hybrid and plug-in.

These have significant architectural differences between them. All of these are vehicles that are capable of harnessing electrical energy, but the way in which this occurs varies greatly depending on the vehicle.

In this article we see the differences.

Differences between electric, hybrid and plug-in: light hybrid vehicle

The smallest electric vehicle is the light hybrid one, also recognized with the initials MHEV. A light hybrid evse charger typically has a small battery of up to 48V and 1kWh of power.

This usually works as an aid to the combustion engine. The electric battery helps improve performance and reduce fuel consumption. However, unlike a full electric, plug-in or hybrid vehicle, light hybrid vehicles are not able to move the car like electric cars.

Even if these cars are not fully hybrid, they do enjoy the advantages of electric cars, such as access to the ZTL or exemption from road tax.

Hybrid evse charger electric vehicle

These cars are also famous as HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles) and are the most common type of electric vehicle evse charger. Unlike the type described above, hybrid cars come with two engines:

  • one combustion and
  • the other electric

The latter comes by a battery with dimensions that can reach up to 8 kWh of power. The electric motor operates when the vehicle starts and while driving. However, the combustion engine may take over when high speeds reaches.

As for the recharging of the evse charger battery, this occurs when the car is in motion and thanks to a regenerative braking system. Compared to a light hybrid, these vehicles can use electrical energy to move, but cannot recharge the battery from external sources.

Hybrid car: diesel or petrol?

Most hybrid cars on the market come with a petrol engine. However, diesel hybrid cars are also recently available on the market. This novelty came by Mercedes in 2018, allowing these cars to travel longer distances than hybrid petrol vehicles thanks to the lower consumption of the diesel engine.

Plug-In Electric Cars evse charger

Plug-in electric cars evse charger is also famous as PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). Like hybrid vehicles, these cars come with two engines:

  1. one combustion
  2. one electric

Unlike hybrid vehicles, plug-in cars can travel a distance of about 60-80km with the electric motor alone thanks to a battery that can reach up to 15 kWh of power. The large battery size allows these vehicles to be recharged using the charging stations for electric cars.

Full electric cars

Unlike hybrid and plug-in vehicles, full electric cars, also famous as BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles), powers entirely by a battery-powered engine and do not feature a combustion engine. The battery sizes of these vehicles range from 40 kWh to 200 kWh in the latest car models.

In addition, the range of these cars can reach 600 km when fully charged

Like plug-in vehicles, charging a full electric vehicle is done through an external electrical outlet. Depending on the type of charging station, it takes a few hours to recharge this vehicle. However, fast-charging stations are cutting down on these times by staying below the 60-minute mark.

A brief summary of the main differences and some tips

  • A hybrid car is a car powered by two engines:
  • An internal combustion engine, usually powered by gasoline or diesel
  • An electric motor powered by a rechargeable battery

Electric motor and combustion engine are the right mix for maximum savings in terms of consumption. The battery of hybrid cars does not need to recharge through the columns.

Hybrid cars have no external socket. In fact, the batteries of these cars are recharged simply thanks to the combustion engine and the energy recovery system during braking.

Taking plug-in hybrid cars into consideration, they come with a larger rechargeable battery that [pwers by the charging stations for the electric car evse charger system.

How does electric car evse charger work?

When the plug-in car runs on a pure electric motor, the energy comes exclusively from the rechargeable battery. However, when the battery’s energy runs out, the petrol or diesel combustion engine kicks in.

A full electric vehicle, on the other hand, is a car powered exclusively by an electric motor that works thanks to the energy stored inside the battery. These cars have no internal combustion engine.

The electric car needs to recharge periodically using batteries for electric cars and therefore has a well-defined range. Once this range exhausts, the car will need to be recharged to move. Read our blog to find out about the different electric car evse charger!

Why do we like evse cars?

Electric cars, along with electric scooters, are one of the main examples of sustainable mobility. Not only are they advantageous from an economic point of view, but also from an environmental point of view!

Both hybrid and electric cars are eco-friendly vehicles, despite the fact that the electric car is more environmentally friendly than the hybrid. In fact, an electric car has no diesel or petrol engine. This means zero CO2 emissions.

Finally, thanks to the absence of a heat engine, electric cars are much quieter than hybrids, ensuring a reduction in noise pollution.

At this point: better a hybrid or an electric car?

To pollute less, it is important to choose an electric car for short journeys or a maximum of 350 km; on the other hand, a hybrid car is important for medium and long-distance journeys.

The latter is the ideal solution for longer inter-regional journeys. The electric car, on the other hand, is important for trips around the city or for trips out of town.

Electric and photovoltaic cars

In our country, residential photovoltaic evse charger systems for the production of electricity for the home are increasingly widespread. The energy comes by a photovoltaic system serves in fact to satisfy personal needs and, if an excess of energy produces, this is fed into the grid when an accumulator is not available.

In other words, when a photovoltaic battery is not available, it is important to use self-produced solar energy as much as possible. In this case, the combination of photovoltaic with an electric car is very convenient both from a sustainable and an economic point of view.
